Tiepolo first studied under Gregorio Lazzarini. He completed his first commission, Sacrifice of Isaac, when he was only nineteen years old.
He left Lazzarini’s studio in 1717 and was accepted into the guild of painters, the Fraglia.
Tiepolo’s sons, Domenico and Lorenzo, were his assistants. They joined their father in Würzburg, Germany for the commission from Prince von Greiffenklau for, The Allegory of the Planets and Continents.
In 1753, he was elected President of the Academy of Padua.
