Edwin Lutyens by His Daughter

Price: $195.30

Description

During his lifetime, Lutyens was considered pre-eminent among English architects since Wren and his genius remains acknowledged today. His internationally renowned work includes Castle Drogo in Devon, New Delhi, the Cenotaph and the designs for Liverpool's Roman Catholic Cathedral. Yet behind this fun-loving and successful public figure were private disappointments and frustrations. Conflicting forces flawed his marriage to a woman he loved passionately; his one relationship outside it was poignantly unsatisfactory; and his greatest work, at New Delhi, was marred by his failure to inspire others with his ideals. The subject of this memoir by his daughter is the man himself, revealed through her own recollections and her parents' letters to each other.
