I put this little collection together because often when I speak at schools, I mention to students who have read the Alex Van Helsing books (the first two, anyway; book 3: The Triumph of Death won’t be out until Summer 2012) just how much gets changed in the writing. So here for fans who have read the first book (or even the first two!) is a collection of deleted and alternate scenes. This isn’t a complete collection—really, books genuinely aren’t written but re-written—but it’s a nice sampler of scenes that almost made it, and in many cases would have made for a different book.
What you’ll see here are subplots, alternate deaths, and grotty details that didn’t make it to the end. Plus some whiteboard work with Alex’s “Scooby Gang” that was cut for time.

Alex Smith is an ordinary joe lost in an ordinary world: a cruel and dreary place where nothing ever turns out as planned.
