Out of Mind
Willow Millet has long ignored and turned her back on the `gifts' her family says they have. Willow wants nothing more then to be a normal business owner, and her business is going great until murders begin to happen around her clients and employees. Now Willow will have to open up the door she long ago closed in order to save not only herself, but also the people she cares about.
Benedict (Ben) Fortune left New Orleans at Willow's request. After getting a phone call telling him about the murders, Ben is back to stay and to hopefully discover why Willow turned away from their bonding. Ben is also from one of the old psychic families and knows that Willow is hiding from herself. Ben knows his gifts are strong and just hopes they are strong enough.
Willow had the strength to turn away from her bonding with Ben once but knows she won't be able to again. Ben and Willow follow the clues to find out what is happening, and why, only to discover the Embran again. Willow's business has taken a serious hit which makes her only more determined to discover why she seems to be the center of the activity. The passion between Ben and Willow is as strong as ever and this time neither can turn away from it. Just when Willow thinks she will have to do something serious to save her business a silver lining might have shown up but the circumstances don't make Ben all that happy. Can Ben and Willow discover the truth about what the Embran have planned and put a stop to it?
A love thought lost is flaming again with danger as a background. Out of Mind brings Willow and Ben back together in the Court of Angels. Willow never wanted to accept she was anything other than normal. Ben always accepted his gifts and wanted nothing more than to have Willow as his bond mate. I wondered what would finally make Willow accept her heritage and should have known it would be love and loyalty to her friends and the people who trusted her. This time the Embran were much more personal in their fighting and I can't help but wonder what will be next for them. What Ben and Willow were going through made me want to hug them, but I knew that their had to be a happy ending for them and I wasn't wrong. I also fell for Mario, the cute little dog that found Willow. Out of Mind proves that you can never turn your back on a passion that was meant to be. The danger caused by the Embran and the discovery of more about not only the Millets, but also the other New Orleans psychic families, only intrigued me more for the next book.
You could read the Court of Angels series as stand alone books, but I think you will get much more out of the intertwining plot if you read them in order.

Awesome book!!
This book did not disappoint - it was every bit as good as the 1st one in the series. I am a great reader of paranormal romances and this ranks right up with Christine Feehan & Lora Leigh books!!

predictable/unlikeable characters
I tried to make it all the way through the second book of this series, but gave up 3/4 of the way through. It was easy enough to figure out who were the bad guys, so that continued non-mystery got boring fast. The heroin, Willow, was an annoying and easily manipulated character. There was nothing that made me think Ben and Willow cared each other, especially since she had so little faith in him. The other characters refused to talk about anything with each other, making me wonder how they could be so close. If you haven't read the first book, this one will make little sense to you. Also, Cameron has a way of writing that seems to be leading to something, but then goes no where. I'm not even interested in the third book, partly due to the introduction of the unlikeable heroin.

Didn't do it for me
Second book in a romantic paranormal suspense trilogy involving the psychic Millet family (there are a few strong psychic families in New Orleans) fighting the Embran, an underworld race that is dying out and has a grudge against the Millets and wants/needs to take over the world.
Willow Millet has denied her abilities all her life, wanting to be the normal one in the family. But when the Embran seem to be targeting her through her customers, and the bond and telepathy she shares with Ben Fortune from another psychic family becomes too apparent, she finally relents and opens up to her abilities. Willow's customers are dying of heart attacks after being attacked by something unseen and either Willow or her employees are the last to see them alive. Other people are disappearing, and the upper echelon of the police is clueless about paranormals, leaving Ben and the Millets (with one detective and his partner) to figure things out and fight their foe.
I received this book to review for Library Thing and had not read the first book, which is a huge mistake. What took place in Out of Body is important to this book and without it this story lacked the impact it might have otherwise had for me. I liked the premise of the situation, but that's the best I can say about my experience in reading this book. I got lost in some of the paranormal sequences and had to go back at times to figure out what was taking place.
It was too easy for me to put down and I never felt any empathy for the characters, which makes it difficult for the romance aspect to work for me. A reveal of some bad guys did take me by surprise at the end, but it wasn't enough for me to want to pick up either the first or last book to see if I'd enjoy it more.
I would have given this only 1 star but am giving the benefit of the doubt that it could have been more enjoyable if I'd read Out of Body before Out of Mind.

Chilling and thrilling!
Originally posted at [...]
Steamy as summertime in New Orleans, Will Millet and Ben Fortunes' love permeates Out Of Mind. Like an electrical storm, their coming together shocks enough to bring pain that pleasure overrides and ecstasy remains.
Willow Millet, steadfastly declaring she is normal in a family of paranormals, struggles with acknowledging her emerging powers and talents. Quiet, with a trouble heart and worried, she works hard to be independent as the works to make a success of her business Mean 'n Green. She is targeted by the shape shifting Embrans that want to take over New Orleans.
Ben Fortunes, the love of Willow's life that she sent away, is a powerful paranormal like her brother Sykes--some call them wizards. Ben is skilled, strong, gorgeous, flamboyant, and free-spirited and uses his powers and talents to the fullest. When he returns to New Orleans, he feels just as attracted to Willow as ever. He wonders why she broke away from him. He knows there is more to it than she told him. Back from Kauai, he becomes her guardian whether wanted or not.
The shape shifting Embrans that come from under the earth morph into shapes from beautiful people to hideous flying monsters, and sometimes even to invisible little tormentors. Determined to take over New Orleans to survive, they launch a deadly campaign. Their vicious, horrifying activities are hair-raising.
All the characters enchant and weave a web around the readers to make them feel as if they are privy to their paranormal family secrets, to their fears, and to their deep-down desires.
Stella Cameron keeps the reader in suspense and slips in a subtle humor that brings sparkle to the story. The little dog Mario intrigues and entertains as he helps propel events along so his much-loved Willow can find her happy-ever-after with the fantastic Ben Fortunes. Her loves scenes come alive with both physical and emotional intensity. They leave one breathless, seething, heavy breathing, chilling, and thrilling, Out Of Mind enthralls.

Out of Sight
Sykes Millet is the strongest psychic in the Millet family so far, but he isn't in charge of the family because of a family legend. Sykes is a bit different than the others in his family, and he sometimes feels like he is on the outside looking in. Sykes also sculpts statues for clients he chooses. That is a personal thing only for him, or at least until he gets a mysterious delivery.
Poppy Fortune runs her family's restaurant/bar Fortunes along with help from her brothers when needed. While being a member of one the oldest psychic families, it hasn't been a good thing for her family. And Poppy herself, seems to only have bits and pieces of powers - nothing really helpful. A rash action done years before makes Poppy believe that she can never have the man she wants - Sykes.
Poppy and Sykes have never really socialized together much believing that the other really doesn't want anything to do with them. That wrong impression is shattered after one passion-filled night. Sykes is still trying to decipher his strange delivery when it become apparent that danger is surrounding Poppy. On top of that, the Embran seems to be back, but different. When the body count begins to rise, everyone hunts madly for answers that just might finally let the Millets, and the other old families of New Orleans, defeat the Embran once and for all. Or will they be the ones defeated?
Sometimes your greatest love is just under your nose. Out of Sight lets Sykes and Poppy learn just that when they open their eyes and feelings. Poppy told Sykes about her biggest mistake hoping for answers, and now thinks him lost. Sykes has fought his entire life against a family rumor, which has plagued him. I wasn't really surprised when Poppy and Sykes became lovers just because I know that sometimes an old friend can become your greatest love. Once again I was kept intrigued by not only the discoveries that Poppy and Sykes were making, but also by the plotting Embran. Intrigue, danger and passion seems to follow the Millets and Fortunes. I loved watching just how easy Poppy and Sykes fell into love while at the same time wondering if they would have the time to explore all that was before them. Ms. Cameron did answer a few of the questions that had plagued me during the first two books, but at the same time she left open many more questions. Out of Sight is the melding of passion, danger and mystery that is Ms. Cameron's specialty and she does not disappoint with Poppy and Sykes.
I was thrilled upon reading the final letter in the hopes that soon there will be even more books in the Court of Angels series, or at least in their world. This is a series I will be re-reading again and bet you will, too.

Great conclusion to an original trilogy
A well written fast paced paranormal adventure. I do think the books really should be read chronologically in order to appreciate all the character relationships and the mythology. Stella Cameron has created an original paranormal universe grounded in a vivid, steamy New Orleans.
I loved the entire trilogy, and hope that more stories will be coming about other members of the psychic families of New Orleans.

Altogether A Sad Mishmash
When it is apparent that a lot of hard work plus a fantastic collection of good ideas are in this mess of a book, my question is what happened? Does the author need to focus or concentrate? The characters are all there, but it's confusing and hard to tell them apart from each other. The setting is always a winner--spooky New Orleans with great houses, shadowed walkways and alleys. The plot--I don't think I could take you from point A to point C with out notes. Here's hoping for a better experience next time because I will not trust this author without a lot of positive comments from other readers.

Out of Body
Marley Millet works as a restorer for the family business - an antique store in the French quarter of New Orleans. Marley's family is an old one in the quarter - a family with various special gifts. Marley can "travel" outside her body to wherever she wants to go, along with other psychic abilities. Right now Marley hopes to never have to use that ability again, but when she begins seeing two women tortured and killed that choice is taken out of her hands.
Gray Fisher is an ex-detective who is now a freelance writer. Gray loves his new job and all the people he meets while doing it. At least these people aren't someone he will have to arrest, but then two of the jazz signers Gray just interviewed disappear mysteriously. Gray wants to know what happened - especially when one shows up dead.
Marley and Gray end up together in an unusual and unlikely team with the help of a detective friend of Gray's. Marley learns that an ancient enemy of her family's is back - the Embran--and the Millets are on their list it seems. While trying to track down the final movements of the missing jazz singers to see when and how they were taken, Marley and Gray discover their unease with each other actually disguised a budding love. Marley and Gary quickly discover that defeating the bad guys isn't going to be easy. With help from Marley's family and cops who find a way to believe, Marley and Gray find a way to strike the first blow against the Embran.
When evil comes back for revenge, can two unlikely lovers find a way to defeat it? Out of Body is the first in a new series, which tells of an old psychic family. Marley isn't looking for love or the murders she sees happening, but both found their way to her. Gray has an open mind, which helped when he was a cop and now as a writer, but some things are harder to swallow then others. I loved watching as Gray and Marley came together, not only as a team to defeat the Embran, but also as two unexpected lovers whose passion burned brightly. What really kept me turning the pages was the intrigue and mysterious Embran that Ms. Cameron interjected through the plot. The depth of writing and description kept me on the edge of my chair wondering what would happen next. Out of Body is a spine tingling tale of murder, mystery and love that is a must read that you really won't want to miss.
I also have to say that I have fallen under the spell of all of the Millets and can't wait to learn more about them and their fight against the Embran.

Hoped For Better
Okay, this was the 1st book by this author I read and the description on the back had me hooked and I was really looking forward to it........ So I feel bad about giving this book a bad review, I don't like doing that to authors because writing is their job and they can write better than I can or could ever hope to. This book was a let down! I see that there's only about 2 other people that agree with me on this! The way the story jumped from here to there and back and forth drove me nuts! I longed for a smooth transistion! The plot or story line made me want to like the book, but it was horribly developed and information and background about the characters was spotty at best. I kind of wish I wouldn't have read it! However, every book I buy to read I always finish it to give the author the benefit of the doubt and hope that it gets better, this one did not. If the book was 100 or even 50 pages longer the story could have been told better and explained better and maybe it would have been worth it. As it stands though, sorry Stella Cameron, no thank you!

Stellar
It is refreshing to see that not all paranormal books must be about vampires and wolves. This was more of a mystical thriller that keeps you guessing as to what will happen to the missing women of New Orleans. You can almost feel the mystery developing under the humid nights of the French Quarter. The Millet's paranormal abilities will need to be used fully against the evil Embran and you are enveloped in trying to unlock the crimes along with the main characters. A quiet evening at home with this book will have you turning the pages and turning your phone on silent!

I want my money back
This is quite possibly the worst book I've ever read. And I read a lot of books. The plot was all over the place, and frankly, just plain stupid. The characters one dimensional; the writing needed a good editor, a lot just didn't make sense and I had to reread passages several time to figure out what Ms. Cameron was trying to say. And there was absolutely no suspense as to who the "bad guys" were; I mean really, who ELSE could it have been? I did like Winnie the pooch, but that was about it. I am a fan of the paranormal genre, but this book gives it a bad name. I received the second in this series from one of my book clubs; I'm sending it back for a refund.

Good story, slightly garbled
The hero is a tortured soul in a scared body. The heroine is rescued street urchin brought up to be a lady. Neither one of them is fit for polite society, but there they are, for some reason.
Saber doesn't want to marry Ella because he is afraid his madness is progressing and he will end up institutionalized in the near future. Why does he believe his post-traumatic stress will get worse and not better? That's not really clear, but he isn't getting any sleep so maybe he isn't thinking clearly.
Of course, the only thing that will change Saber's mind is if poor Ella faces physical danger, and here is where the story gets good. There is a pack of villains after her. She faces rape, humiliation, and marriage to a pervert with an equally perverted dad. And best of all is Precious Able, one of the best villainous sidekicks you'll see in a romance novel.
This had potential to be a good book, and it has some very good parts, but unfortunately it suffers from lack of focus. Parts are slow-moving, and some characters are not explained very well, such as the hero's two best friends who both turn traitor on him, and the younger brother who lures his sister into danger for no clear reason. I almost gave up on this book after the first few chapters, but I am glad I didn't. I would have missed Precious Able's uniquely memorable abduction rehearsal. That scene alone was worth reading the book for.

What a wonderful story!
... Saber, Earl of Avenall, was severely wounded, inside and out, during the war in India. Today, we would call it Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. He has nightmares, he feels terrible amounts of guilt, etc. But he thinks he's going insane. Ella, his beloved, needs him. She loves him and he pushes her away, not willing to tie her to a madman. But someone threatens to expose Ella's past and hurt her. Saber decides to marry her, make her his heir, so when he does finally go completely insane, Ella will be taken care of. This was a good story, with deeply emotional characters whose love for each other was tangible and real. The only thing I don't usually like about Stella Cameron's writing is the way she often *hints* at what people want to say. I wish she would just have them *say* what is on their minds. But I did think this was a very good book.

A GOOD BOOK
This was a good book, and I enjoyed reading it. The characters were believable. If you want to read a book that goes straight to your heart, read Stolen Moments by Barbara Jeanne Fisher. . .It is a beautiful story of unrequited love. . .for certain the love story of the nineties. I intended to give the book a quick read, but I got so caught up in the story that I couldn't put the book down. From the very beginning, I was fully caught up in the heart-wrenching account of Julie Hunter's battle with lupus and her growing love for Don Lipton. This love, in the face of Julie's impending death, makes for a story that covers the range of human emotions. The touches of humor are great, too, they add some nice contrast and lighten things a bit when emotions are running high. I've never read a book more deserving of being published. It has rare depth. Julie's story will remind your readers that life and love are precious and not to be taken for granted. It has had an impact on me, and for that I'm grateful. Stolen Moments is written with so much sensitivity that it made me want to cry. It is a spellbinder. What terrific writing. Barbara does have an exceptional gift! This book was edited by Lupus specialist Dr. Matt Morrow too, and has the latest information on that disease. ..A perfect gift for someone who started college late in life, fell in love too late in life, is living with any illness, or trying to understand a loved one who is. . .A gift to be cherished forever.

Forgettable
This book is so forgettable, I've already forgotten the plot, and pretty much everything about the book. It just doesn't stand out from the pack of "romantic suspense" novels out there - a generic, by-the-guidelines text, there is no reason to bother reading it because it is just like any other book of its type out there. Save your time for a better novel.

It's fun to read a book that treats the reader as if he/she has a brain. This is not for the three-book-a-day-skipper, but if you enjoy romantic suspese that isn't formulaic, this is the book for you. The author has a good time and doesn't hold back. You have to like creepy, shocking, and sexy stories with a plot that makes you think.

If you have nothing better to do
If you have a lot of time to waste this book is worth a read just to see how bad a book can be. Other then that if your looking for a good book this simply isn't it.
This is the first book I read by Stella Cameron, and I probably won't ever buy another one. The back seemed interesting enough.
For one the first murder drags on and on and on with not much happening other then sorted silly affairs that don't make much sense at all. If the author intended to build a character background she failed. IF she was trying to make it look like there were possible other murders she failed. The 2nd murder in the book was absolutely pointless.
The ending was horrible, it didn't make any sense even one of the characters ask well how did "the murder" try to drive you insane. The author simply had a lot of thoughts but could or choose not to finish them.

How did this book ever get published?
I have read several books by this author, and found them intriguing enough to keep buying her work. This should have been a typical romantic suspense in the deep south, complete with serial killer and happy ending. From the back cover, that's what it was...but then you got to the actual writing and it was awful. The heroine was weak, and so stupid both her husband and the killer commented on it. The only Southern stereotype that the author missed was blatant racism, but then again, there were no people of color mentioned. Finally, the storyline for the murders was so disjointed it made little sense. Body of trash!

well-written story full of love, mysteries and suspense
Courtesy of A Romance Review Bride is the third book in the Rosmara Quartet featuring Justine Grivin and Straun Rosmara. Lady Justine is the spinster sister of Duke of Franchot and lives her life in Cornwall with her grandmother. She is an elegantly slender, tall, and feminine in her quiet, self-contained manner. Straun Rosmara has never been married. But he has two children, Ella and Max. He rescues Ella from a London brothel and Max from being a pickpocket in Convent Garden. Bride is a well-written story full of love, mysteries and suspense. Ms Cameron has created an unforgettable hero and heroine. Both are admirable and respectful in their own ways. The plots are interesting and full of passionate and exciting moments. The mysteries and suspense keeps you thinking and guessing all the time. If you love Stella Cameron and suspenseful romance, it is one of her series that you must not miss. The other books in the Rosmara Quartet in serial are Fascination, Charmed, Beloved and The Wish Club and I recommend all of them to you.

Marvelous characters but too much secret past subplot
Justine is a spinster, well on the shelf at thirty-five. Nevertheless, she decides to write a book for young women telling them what to expect in courtship and marriage--to the smallest intimate detail. She asks her old friend Struan to help her learn what she needs to know to put in the book; she'd also like to help him raise his two children. Justine has lusted in her heart after Struan, but knowing that he does not reciprocate, she feels she will be able to control her actions if not her thoughts. Struan has been receiving threats concerning a mysterious past... and now Justine shows up, unescorted, at his doorstep and wants him to teach her--purely for research, of course--the ways of love. I *loved* Justine and her book. She does not allow herself to be pushed around, but is charming and caring, and her book and "research" are wonderfully hilarious. She considers herself a cripple due to a childhood accident; Struan tries to downplay this and show her she is a whole woman--the developement of this aspect is wonderful. The love scenes between the two were as good as I was expecting from what I'd heard of Stella's writing--yum! Sometimes I felt that the secret past subplot overshadowed the romance and I wanted to get on with things, but overall this story and these marvelous characters are well worth it. This is the third book in the Rossmara quartet (I've been badgering Stella to make it a quintet), but you certainly don't have to read the books in the order they were written--they stand alone very well. Funny & sexy historical romance
Wow, Stella's done it again! This is the 3rd book in Stella's "Rossmara" series and easily stands alone (I haven't yet read Charmed & Fascination but am going searching for them today!). Justine decides it is her duty to enlighted woman on what they can expect from men, during courtship all the way to the marriage bed. Being a spinster she needs to do some research before she can begin her book. She travels to Scotland with the intention of taking care of Struan's two motherless children in exchange for his help with her book. They both end up with more than they bargained for. Justine's passages into her book had me laughing out loud, I could *see* Struan cringing as she wrote them! What I love most about Stella's writing is her characterization, these people really come alive whether I love them or hate them (and I absolutely despised Grandmama, what a selfish woman!). This is a fantastic read. Funny, tender, suspenseful and very sexy. The identity of the nutcase who was making Struan's life miserable was also a major shocker! I can't wait to dig into Arran & Calum's stories!
